e Book
What I learned from this workshop is that an eBook is: ![]()
- anything from the digital version of a paper book, to a more interactive content that includes hyperlinks and multimedia.
- eBooks allow the reader to create and become a part of the book. What makes an eBook unique is its animations, graphics and mediums.
Fresh to my repertoire: from Wikipedia
- Hyperlink: In computing, a hyperlink is a reference or navigation element in a document to another section of the same document or to another document that may be on or part of a (different) domain.
- Multimedia: Multimedia is media and content that utilizes a combination of different content forms. Multimedia is usually recorded and played, displayed or accessed by information content processing devices, such as computerized and electronic devices, but can also be part of a live performance.
Here is a great website that was created by the presenters of the eBook workshop. They have developed a unit of work to allow teachers to incorporate digital technology into the curriculum. Our task was to create a an eBook about transport which was then added to an eBook the presenters had designed. I couldn’t believe that it was actually easily achievable. The group also added a teacher resources link on their website where you can also find an array of examples of digital stories. eBook website
The result of the completed task was so impressive that I decided to experiment myself. I produced an eBook about an African safari using two of the digital documents I had previously created. It shows just how easy it is for teachers to design exciting and motivating learning experiences for their students. ebook-africa1
There has also been a development in Religious Education Online Resources.
The Catholic Education office has created an eBook resource for unit 2.2 Lent and Holy Week The Story of Zacchaeus. I used this with my year 2 class while casual teaching and the children loved it.
